Materials Review

All materials to be layed out in a spectrum!...as regards to my materials I bent the rules here a little, rather than a total spectrum of colour I did start to arrange colour orders, but at the same time clash colours. For instance the blue floral and patchwork backgrounds, to create contrasts to the objects in the forground e.g the pot girl with the bright orange hair.
Yellow into Pink area

Oranges into Browns

Green/Blue

Overview of Materials Review:
My materials review was with Jane Mckeeting, I did find dedicating a whole day to sorting and organising somewhat of an indulgence as this is something I do love to do. It was almost as if I was setting up scenes or displays!
I did also find this experience worthwhile as on reflection with Jane we came to discover the richness and diversity of the materials layed out were not necciserilly reflected in my actual digital prints, as they do become "dead" once flattened and need the richness of the table to be incorporated into my prints! One way of looking forward is to start scanning in some of the embroiderys such as the lamb and the mary to maipulate in photoshop then possibly digital print those as the texture will be very different to that of an average photograph.
I also need to look at a range of weights in materials especially for digital printing but also within my patterend fabrics but there is also the technique of aplique which will strenghthen material.
Thread types we noticed were important I need a larger range to create different textures within the embroiderys. Need to get hold of some crochet threads and some knitting yarns to hand sew with thease will create different qualities.

Overall I found I had some great feedback from Jane and I have many ways in which to create a richer quality within my work i am definately going to test thease out!!
